The first ever MDXSU Summer Fest took place at Middlesex University last Wednesday 18th May, attracting almost one thousand summer-ready guests.

Despite the summer-themed festival unfortunately coinciding with some typically British weather, the intermittent drizzle didn't put off the hundreds of students who turned out in force for the cross-campus event.

The huge party was organised by Middlesex University Students' Union to celebrate the end of exams and mark the end of the academic year for many Middlesex students.

The event included a fairground ride, silent disco, pop-up bars and food outlets and a lineup of student and big name performers across the two main stages.

This year's MDXSU Summer Fest was headlined by London r&b trio and 1Xtra favourites WSTRN, who pumped up a huge MDX House crowd with a set including their hit single In2, which reached number four in the UK charts last November.

Supporting WSTRN was Radio 1, 1Xtra and Asian Network superstar Yasser who kept the dancing going strong between sets from infamous student DJ collective NORTY and grime artist and MDX alumnus Vas Leon.

The lineup also included talented Middlesex student DJs, bands and singers who played in both the huge inflatable Igloo Tent and on the main MDX House stage: The Jack Danielles, Daliya Nava, Alex Benjamin, Danielle Temeng, Andrea Vazquez, Helen Rupp, Paddy Kellaway, Michael Hussey, Silver Supreme and DJ Prince.

Other attractions included beach games and deckchairs on the terrace, metallic transfer tattoos provided by the MDX Women's Basketball team, free prints from the prop-filled Summer Fest photobooth and more free bubbles than you'll find on the Southbank on a Sunday.

Photos from the event are now available on the Middlesex Students' Union Facebook page, including photobooth pictures and roaming photos from our official student event photographers Aimen Ben Aissa and Zek Al-Bostani.
