MDXSU launches Motivate MDX Campaign

Today we launched our General Election campaign, Motivate MDX. We’ll be running events, providing information, and generally getting your voice heard in the run up to the election next year.

Students told us what they think at Freshers Fringe

As part of our Freshers Fringe, we spoke to you about what motivates you to vote, and whether you plan to vote next year. Over 150 students answered our questions, and a massive 84% of you told us you were planning on voting at the next election, although almost 70% said they didn’t know who they planned to vote for.

We’re here to help you!

Your Students’ Union is here to help you. We’re going to be working to help students get their issues onto the political agenda for the election, and we’ll also be trying to make sure as many of you are registered to vote, so you can be part of deciding who the government is next year.

Get Involved

Got strong opinions on why your fellow students should vote? Use the #MotivateMDX hashtag to talk to us about what you think!

If you’re passionate about democracy, you can get involved with our campaign by being a General Election Volunteer – read more here.

Hendon Matters

Middlesex University is within the Hendon Constituency, which was one of the closest seats at the last general election, with our MP Matthew Offord winning by only 106 votes. This makes Hendon a very exciting place to be at the next election, and means Middlesex’s students votes will really matter when it comes to deciding who the next MP will be.

Don’t Live in Hendon? We’ve got you covered!

We’ll also be meeting with other MP’s and candidates in the surrounding area to find out what they will be doing to represent the students that live in their local area if they become members of parliament. We’ll also keep you updated with what the parties are talking about nationally, on student issues and much more.

Are you registered?

In order to cast your vote at the next election you need to be registered. It’s really easy to sign up online, you just need your postcode and national insurance number!

If you know where you’ll be living next May, you can register now at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
