As a student, you probably know a way to make your course better. What you might not know is how to make it happen.
At Middlesex University, the forum for influencing how your course is run is called a School Zone meeting. This meeting happens once a term and gives you the opportunity to suggest changes – both at a course level and university-wide.
The inaugral first term meeting is happening this Wednesday 20th November, and anyone can get involved! Here’s how...
Make your voice heard
Democratically elected Student Voice Leaders (formerly known as course reps) meet each term to vote on course improvements. Because they rely on YOU for ideas on what needs to be done, they’ll be taking your suggestions from the floor and listening out for persuasive arguments.
Make a strong case for your ideas at this term’s meeting and they could become reality. Course changes are voted on at the meeting, whilst university-wide changes will be taken to the next stage up - the School Voice Conference.
The School Voice Conference is where big academic and democratic policies are voted on by all democratically elected School Voice Leaders. All students are welcome to come and see student-led democracy in action.
What next?
Students who join executive committee taskforces are given a hands-on role in carrying out changes on campus. Interested in joining a taskforce? Come along to your School’s Zone meeting to find out more!
All School Zone meetings will run from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, Wednesday 20th November
- Art & Design followed by Media & Performing Arts - CG10
- Science & Technology followed by Health & Education - C107
- Business followed by Law - Port 7a
All will then convene for the Student Voice Conference, 6.30pm -7.30pm - CG77
