The Vice President Art & Design and Media & Performing Arts represents all students within these schools at Middlesex, and works closely with the School Voice Leaders on the MDXSU Exec. Each Student Officer also has particular interests in and responsibilities for other areas of student life - Joe's are societies, democracy and governance, privately rented student housing, student media and the Disabled Students' Assembly.
Hello! My name is Joe, I’m your Vice President of Art and Design, Media and Performing Arts. That means that I am here to represent the students within those schools, as well as working to help all students across campus.
I studied Popular Music at Middlesex, which means like many of you I was based in the Grove building, and I understand the various struggles that all of us in the Art & Design and Media & Performing Arts schools face - as well as all of the things that make us great!
In my first year I got involved with activities outside of class by running a radio show on POW! FM - part of MDXSU's student media - with one of my friends. In my second year I was a member of a society, and in my third year I ran two societies and stood for election to the position I now hold!
It is entirely possible to spend three years at Middlesex just studying, and that is absolutely fine, but I can say with absolute certainty that the best thing about this university is the possibility to do more, so if you want to get the most out of your time here make sure you get involved; join a society, be a part of student media, run a campaign or put on an event!
If you want to do something, the likelihood is that your Students' Union will be able to help you do it, so get in touch and let’s see what we can do.
