This year SMTV rebranded itself into being a platform engaging a variety of students. We're looking to collaborate closely with students from all fields who are interested in promoting their events, getting engaged in video, or maybe even having their own show in their field of interest. SMTV, previously known as POWTV! Has engaged in a variety of events throughout the years such as filming the MDXTalent Show, MDX Christmas Market and Live Broadcast on the Freshers Events. Throughout the past year, we've had numerous drop-in sessions and opportunities for interested presenters to come and volunteer in the quad and other spaces on campus.

SMTV's main vision is to promote student life and to promote students into being the greatest version of themselves, stepping into their identity and individuality with boldness. Come and create your truth, your authenticity, and share your perspective on life. I bet you'd have some unique strand-points we've never heard of before! From interviews to live streams to filming short films or promo videos for events, societies or personal ideas, you have the freedom to get as creative and as big as you'd like.
The main skills you need? A burning desire to express life and take time out to create something unique the World has never seen before, or has, but not from your perspective! We're currently forming a strong team of videographers, presenters, and post-production editors - the software's we focus on using are Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, OBS(Open Broadcasting Software). So if you've had experience in any of those fields or if you're interested but never knew where to start, this is the place!
Regular drop-ins will be available, as well as training in the fields of interest. If you're already experienced in some of the fields, then what are you waiting for? Come grab a camera and get on shooting, vlogging, filming, creating, documenting! Let's go!
Please check out our available jobs here or email us at to find out more about how you can get involved.

Katya Turikova TV Station Manager Hey I'm Katya, currently head of Student Media TV for the upcoming year 2019-2020. I am also a 3rd-year Business Management Student with experience in broadcast journalism and theatre. Prior to coming to Middlesex I ran my own radio program and worked in Real Estate marketing. Throughout my high school years, I was heavily involved in numerous national and international MUN conferences and at 17 ended up running my own MUN conference as Secretary-General and was featured in the National Newspaper in Dubai where I attended High School. This inspired her to seek out a career in Broadcast Journalism touching on topics which moved her in the conferences she attended in her younger years such as Genocide, Terrorism, and the like. But life had its own plans and she ended up studying Business MA in London soon after. Fun fact: my first job was at a reptile store called ExoTerra when I was 14, just in case you were wondering.

In addition, I am the President of Salem Campus Fellowship, SVL for my BA course, and on the Executive Committee as Rep for Faith-Based Societies. I first got involved with Student Media in January 2018 where I co-hosted several radio shows and live streams. After which I got more involved in Student Media and ended up being promoted to Head of TV in December 2018. I am currently ignited with a vision to take Student TV to a next level by getting involved with different projects, media platforms, and collaborating with different students to bring the TV department in the university to a new level. Creating a unique voice on Youtube where we could potentially promote all the uniqueness and flair of student life! And potentially bringing TV to a level of quality and standard where it is part of the NASTA Awards by the end of the year.
Shalom, Peace, Prosperity, Wholeness and Tranquility. All the best, Katya Turikova
