A referendum is an all-student vote on a yes or no question.

They are usually called by the Union Council or one of your Student Officers, and mandate the Students' Union to work on a particular idea or issue.

For a referendum to pass, more than 50% of students voting yes rather than no. However, a minimum proportion of the student body will need to vote in the referendum in order for the vote to be deemed representative.

Once an idea has passed - whether through Union Council or referendum - MDXSU will work with the student who submitted the idea to try and implement the idea, or campaign for it's adoption.
