Student Led Teaching Awards 2017

The MDXSU Student Led Teaching Awards 2017 were held on Tuesday 4th April. The evening was a celebration of teaching excellence, student support and partnership at Middlesex University, hosted by Vice President Orla and Katie, and including a three-course meal, entertainment from singer and MDX student Iva Angelicheva, and the presentation of the awards.

 

All staff who were shortlisted for an award were invited to the ceremony, alongside the students who nominated them.

Students nominated staff across five different award categories, which you can see below. Students were also involved in the shortlisting process, sitting on panels alongside elected MDXSU Student Officers and staff.

 

Award categories and criteria

Award Criteria
Academic Staff Member of the Year This individual supports student achievement and performance.
  This individual uses current & up to date teaching practices to ensure that students are engaged with the teaching.
  The
individual displays exceptional knowledge and understanding of their subject
Outstanding Feedback Award This individual gives exceptional feedback through innovative and useful ways
This individual provides feedback in a timely fashion & clearly highlights areas for improvement
This individual provides follow up contact in relation to feedback in needed or requested
Support Staff Member of the Year The individual demonstrates a creative and innovative approach to service delivery, going above and beyond expectations which,has made a positive impact on the student,experience
Excellent understanding of the needs of students have when seeking out a member of support staff
This individual is knowledgeable about the service being provided & other services available across the university and local community.
Outstanding Commitment to Student Development This individual/ organisation encourage students to develop key,employability skills,This individual/ organisation provide opportunities for students to engage in relevant activity through placements.
This individual/ organisation gives good careers advice or knows where students can access appropriate information
This individual provides good pastoral support and care and guides students through their time at university
Most Inspiring Teacher This individual has had a positive impact on students’ lives.
This individual has a passion for their subject and actively engages students in furthering their understand of a topic.
This individual used innovative teaching methods to ensure that students develop their understanding of a topic.
