This candidate development page includes a range of presentation and online interactive sessions aimed at supporting anyone running in the MDXSU Elections. The materials below were originally designed and put together for students running in the main MDXSU Elections in February 2021.
If you are running for the position of Vice President Health, Education and Social Care these resources will be incredibly useful, but please ignore any of the dates given in the resources below and refer to the FAQs and Key Dates page for the most up to date information.
Candidate briefings are an important part of the elections for any candidate. They are where you'll find out everything you need to know and understand about the MDXSU elections. There are seperate candidate briefings for those running for the Student Officer & Trustee positions and those running for Student Group Leader positions. Make sure your attend the right one.

When you campaign, it's important to work out how you are going to engage students with your campaign and what you’re going to say to turn online conversations into votes. During the election, there are many ways you might end up public speaking. This session is an opportunity for you to practice and build your confidence when talking to others!
Your manifesto is written by you and a declaration to students on what you will do for them if you’re elected to the role. Students will often refer to candidates' manifestos when deciding who to vote for. Planning your campaign can help you leverage votes during election week. This session will cover what you need to know on writing a manifesto and planning an online campaign.
New or never really used social media before? Not sure where to get started? Or just want to know how to post, increase your following or use it to help you campaign? Then this session is for you.
This session is online, and you will be able to go through it in your own time. It will take you through the very basics of using social media and will give you some helpful tips and tricks to use whilst campaigning in a virtual environment.
