I am currently studying graphic design at Middlesex, and my experience has been amazing. I've had a lot of fun developing my creative and technical skillset, whilst also getting to collaborate with so many talented people on my course.
Finding My Path
After my first year, the opportunity to join the SU as a graphic designer came up, and I saw it as a chance to sharpen my skills while gaining valuable real-world experience. It felt like the natural next step.
Working at MDXSU
As a graphic designer for MDXSU, I work closely with the Communications & Insight team to create graphics that are engaging and exciting for social media. I also pick up a camera once in a while to photograph events, capture moments, and give people a glimpse into what student life is like.
My favourite part of what I do is that it allows my creativity to run free. Every project and brief lets me explore different ideas and think outside the box when I run into design challenges. Seeing an idea go from a draft to a finished product is one of the most rewarding parts of the creative process.
Making a Meaningful Impact
Knowing the impact my designs have really motivates me to keep improving and keep creating. I recently helped someone with what I considered a reasonably small design request — but seeing how grateful they were reminded me that even the smallest pieces of work can have a meaningful impact on someone. That's why I love what I do.
What's Next
As I continue my role as a Graphic Designer with MDXSU, I want to keep creating work that has a positive impact and keep people and emotions at the centre of my ideas.
I hope to continue growing as both a graphic designer and photographer, taking on more creative opportunities and meeting so many amazing people along the way. And if you see me holding a camera around campus — come and say hi!
