MDXSU stands in solidarity with our lecturers taking industrial action.

As the elected student leaders of MDXSU we wanted to make a statement about the ongoing UCU industrial action. As a team we fully support our staff’s right to take industrial action and to receive fair pay for the work they do. We know as students that staff are an absolutely vital part of the university community and we are fully in support of them being fairly paid.

Having properly paid, engaged and motivated staff is crucial to a good student experience which is why supporting them is the right thing for students to do.

We recognise that students have had a lot of disruption over the last few years, so we’re calling on universities and the government to negotiate a fair pay offer for staff so they can return to teaching and end the disruption to people’s studies.

We are working with the university to ensure the student experience is affected as little as possible, and as an organisation, we remain open as normal.
