Education Officer Candidate, Campaigner of the Year 2025/26

When I first started at Middlesex, I was quite shy and mostly kept to myself. I focused heavily on my degree and didn't really explore anything outside my course. Over time, though, I realised there was a lot changing at the university and I felt a growing responsibility to get involved.

Finding My Voice

Over time, I noticed how much was changing at the university and felt a growing responsibility to advocate for students and their best interests. That was the moment I truly understood how important student voice really is.

One of the biggest challenges throughout my journey has been dealing with failure whether that meant not achieving the grades I wanted or facing rejection in job interviews. Those moments were difficult, but they taught me resilience and helped me understand that growth often comes from the things that don't go perfectly. They pushed me to step forward instead of stepping back.

Stepping Up

Running for Education Officer was a turning point. I wanted to help improve the quality of education for students and make sure their concerns were taken seriously.

Campaigning forced me out of my comfort zone and helped me connect with students across different backgrounds, courses, and experiences. It taught me how to listen, how to communicate, and how to represent people honestly and confidently. It also showed me how much I cared about advocating for students and being part of positive change.

Looking Back

I don't think one single experience changed me, I think all of them did. Every role, every conversation, every challenge shaped me into someone more confident, more involved, and more willing to step forward when something matters.

If I could speak to my first-year self now, I'd tell him to be brave. Get out of your comfort zone, stop worrying so much about grades, and explore everything else you can do. MDX has shown me that university isn't just about the degree. It's about the people you meet, the things you try, and the confidence you build along the way.
