When I moved to London to study at Middlesex University, I was living on my own and adjusting to a completely new chapter of my life. What started as a part-time job to help with finances grew into one of the most defining experiences of my time at MDX.
Finding My Place
Like many students, I was facing financial challenges and knew I had to find a job alongside my studies. When I came across the opportunity to join the Students' Union Social Media team, I applied because it genuinely sounded like something I would enjoy. As someone with a passion for social media and content creation, it felt like the perfect fit.
At the time, I expected it to be a part-time role. However, through my dedication, hard work, and eagerness to learn, the opportunity grew into a huge part of my university experience and professional development.
Two Years in the Making
Alongside my degree in BA Fashion Marketing, I've spent the last two years working as a Social Media & Content Student Staff member for MDXSU.
When I found out I had won Student Staff Member of the Year, I was genuinely shocked. It didn't feel real at first. I had put so much effort in but I never expected to receive an award for it. Looking back, I'm incredibly proud of how far I've come and of everything I've achieved while balancing both work and university.
For me, this award represents more than just a title. It reminds me of all the challenges I've overcome, the skills I've developed, and the confidence I've gained along the way. It's proof that hard work really does pay off, even when you don't always see the results straight away.
Looking Ahead
If I could give one piece of advice to other students, it would be to stop letting self-doubt decide what you're capable of. Push yourself beyond the limits you've set in your own mind and take opportunities, even if they seem intimidating. You are capable of achieving much more than you think.
As I prepare for my third year, I'm excited to continue building my skills and seeing where my passion for marketing, social media, and content creation will take me next.
