Student Media

Your student media publication, The Echo, is looking for new student journalists, writers, bloggers and contributors to share their experiences, thoughts and stories with Middlesex students!

The Echo is your student-led publication at Middlesex University, and is designed and created entirely by MDX students. Previously an on-campus newspaper and now an online publication, content published ranges from advice columns on student life, news articles, sports events, academic accomplishments and much, much more.

Student Media WebsiteNo prior experience is necessary, all that is required is the interest and passion to get involved and contribute! Training and development opportunities are open to all student members of The Echo, so you’ll receive guidance and best practice for writing articles and blogs. This is a great opportunity to get involved and try something new, or if you’ve written content before, an excellent chance to publish some of your work. You’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate with our other Student Media platforms: MDX FM and Student Media TV – whether that’s creating podcasts or doing live streamed interviews

In a few weeks' time, MDXSU is attending the London Mayoral Assembly with Citizens UK, and we’re looking for student writers to attend the event and write a news report on the issues that affect the MDX student body. Issues that MDX students care about may include the candidates' proposed policies on housing, public transport, youth safety and the London Living Wage. As well as Sadiq Khan and Shaun Bailey, the Mayoral candidates include climate change activists, anti-lockdown campaigners, a former banker and even a couple of professional YouTubers, among others - however you look at it this is going to be an interesting Mayoral election!*

If you would like to be one of our student journalists for this event, or if you would like any more information, please contact MDXSU’s Student Media Coordinator, Michael Scarborough, at M.J.Scarborough@mdx.ac.uk.

If this event doesn’t interest you but you would like to write articles about other issues, we still want to hear from you! Get in touch if you have ideas or want to talk to our team about issues students care about – or alternatively join the group on the SU website to keep up to date with news and activity.

Remember, if you’ve not yet registered to vote, make sure you register before the deadline on 19th April!

*Articles written for MDXSU Student Media should be unbiased and not favour one candidate over any other.
