The University and College Union (UCU) has announced a further 18 days of strike action throughout February and March 2023, in relation to pay, working conditions, and pension cuts.   

As the elected student leaders of MDXSU, we wanted to make a statement about the ongoing industrial action and reiterate our solidarity with those staff taking industrial action.   

We recognise that the cost of living has affected both our students and staff, and know that having fairly paid and motivated staff is crucial to a great student experience. The staff at Middlesex are an important part of our University community and we are fully in support of them being paid fairly.   

Alongside this, we know that students have faced several years of disruption which is why we’re calling on the government and universities to negotiate a fair pay offer for staff as quickly as possible. We are working with the university to ensure the student experience is minimally affected, and that support is available to students who need it. As your Students’ Union, we remain open as normal, along with other university services.
