A hundred Middlesex students attended the annual MDXSU Students Leaders' Residential last week.

The free, two-night trip was held between Wednesday 7th and Friday 9th September in Gilwell Park scout centre on the outskirts of London, near Epping Forest.

Students enjoyed a range of outdoor activities and team challenges, including raftbuilding, kayaking, climbing, archery and a zipwire.

They also learned more about Middlesex Students' Union and their role in the wider student movement, with talks from MDXSU Student Officers and staff, and NUS Vice President Further Education Shakira Martin.

Other sessions included campaign workshops led by our President and Vice Presidents - on housing, free sanitary products, community projects and the cost of being a Middlesex student - and meet-ups within Liberation and allies groups.

The evenings were for socialising, with communal dinners, quizzes, music and an amazing campfire on the final night.

The annual Student Leaders' Residential is offered to all students with an involvement in MDXSU - whether they're an intern, a Society leader, a Student Voice Leader or a contributor to POW! Media - though any Middlesex student with an interest in getting more involved in their Students' Union is welcome to attend.

The residential exists to give students a deeper understanding of their Students' Union and the student movement, and provide a space for networking and meeting new people.

More that that, it's there to inspire, motivate and empower Middlesex students to make change on campus and beyond.

The trip is completely free, with accommodation, food and transport provided, allowing everyone who wants to join in to take part.
