Elections 2024 Update: Nominations Open & New Roles

As you know, the Trustee Board, including the current student officers, has decided to restructure the Student Officer roles, which has led to a temporary pause in the election process. But we have great news for you – nominations are open again! You may have seen us around campus collecting feedback and your opinion about what needs to change for you to have the best student experience. We took all this feedback and created new officer roles to ensure effective representation and support for the student body.

What are the new Student Officer Roles?

The new roles are President, Education Officer, and Activities Officer.

Each of these roles has been precisely crafted to address specific aspects of student life and to act as a more direct bridge between students and the university administration. The decision to streamline the roles from five to three comes as a result of careful consideration and aims to ensure maximum effectiveness in student representation.

President: This role serves as the public-facing spokesperson for MDXSU, representing student interests at all levels. The President will advocate, campaign, and lobby on behalf of students, ensuring their voices are heard in university and external forums. Additionally, they will focus on promoting student well-being and enhancing support services based on student feedback.

Education Officer: The Education Officer is responsible for representing students in academic matters within Middlesex University, they will work to enrich the academic experience of students and they will collaborate with Student Voice Leaders to identify and address key issues in teaching and learning, as well as lead campaigns to raise awareness of important educational issues affecting students.

Activities Officer: This role’s main responsibility is fostering a vibrant and exciting student community. The Activities Officer will organize a range of activities and events. From social gatherings to community service projects as they aim to promote student engagement and provide opportunities for personal and professional development outside the classroom.
