Your votes have now been counted!
It’s been a record-breaking year for student democracy at Middlesex, with over 1600 students voting in the Students’ Union's elections.
1677 students cast a total of 8069 votes for 58 candidates standing for 22 elected positions.
A record number of Middlesex students took the opportunity to shape their university experience by voting over the 5-day election period.
The candidates campaigned diligently throughout the week, popping up across campus to talk to as many of you as possible and share their vision for a better Middlesex. The respectful, friendly and upbeat approach to canvassing on display was a credit to the candidates, MDXSU and the university.
Every student who voted had a say on which nominee student officers would be granted the authority to lead the Students’ Union next year as full-time sabbatical officers, meaning that the victors will make sure that the coming year’s SU initiatives reflect your demands.
If you voted, you have played a big part in how your union will continue to develop and improve in the coming year. Thanks to you, we will be able to ensure that you are properly represented at every level of university life.
Those of you who stood as candidates - thank you. Your campaigning efforts have contributed to a vibrant, inclusive democratic process and helped achieve a fantastic voter turnout. Your own experience of this election will give you valuable experience that will stand you in good stead in years to come, whether or not you were elected.
A huge thank you too to the MDXSU staff team, interns, volunteers and everyone else who have worked so hard in the past few months to bring off a remarkable election in a way that represents Middlesex’s incredible student community.
