You've told us that you want a space to voice your opinions about campus life, news, politics and much more. That's why we've invested in a shiny new POW! Media hub - launching next month - which will host the brand new POW! News.

POW! News will be an independent space for students to write articles on whatever they like. It's your platform to write about critically about campus life, current affairs, news and politics, and share your views on your university and your Students' Union.

We believe that student media is one of the cornerstones of an active and engaged student body, and we want this online hub to be your space. So whether you're looking to go into journalism as a career or just really want the chance to write about what life is like here at MDX, we want to hear from you.

What we're looking for:

As well as contributors, we're looking for five student editors, one for each of the following sections: News, Entertainment, Sports, Campus Life and Politics. Iif there's another area you are interested in writing about then please get in touch.

Do I need to be studying journalism to apply?

No not at all! We welcome applications from any student that has an interest in writing in any of the above areas.

How do I apply?

All you have to do is complete the form at the bottom of this page, giving us with your contact details and short statement about why you would like the position. If you have an examples of any articles you’ve written previously then add them in too! You need to apply Thursday 12th November.

What’s in it for me?

It’s a great opportunity to gain new skills, get your work published, build a portfolio for your career in journalism or just share your views! In addition to that, MDXSU will also pay for a National Union of Journalists (NUJ) membership for our five student editors. Being an NUJ member means you'll gain a NUJ student press card, career information and advice, access to the NUJ mentor scheme and a chance to attend networking conferences and events.

"Your NUJ card is a vital passport to your career in the media. Starting out in journalism can be tough, the competition is fierce - employers are quick to exploit new journalists. You need to protect your interests at work by joining the NUJ."

- Michelle Stanisteet, NUJ general secretary

To apply simply fill in the form below. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us at powmedia@mdxsu.com.
