Healthy Campus Week 2013

It's easy to lose sight of healthy living whilst at university, what with there being so much to get done! Happily, nutrititous meals and regular exercise are habits just like any other, and picking up new ones is always easiest when you're feeling supported and inspired. Over the coming days Middlesex Univeristy is offering a range of great initiatives that will help you feel alert, energised and fighting fit - happy Healthy Campus Week everyone!

 

Free access to The Fitness Pod

Monday 18 to Friday 22 November, 7.00am – 12.00pm.

You can hit the campus gym as much as you like this week! Get equipment training, see what sort of regime suits your fitness level, or just have a break from outdoor sports. Plus, those who go to a free session at the Fitness Pod will be entered into a draw for an introductory 3 month sports membership. 

 

Free lunchtime swim

Tuesday 19 and Thursday 21 November, 12-2 pm. 

If you're interested in giving swimming a try, there are two free sessions running this week at our local community pool, Barnet Copthal.

 

Neck and shoulder massage

Tuesday 19 and Thursday 21 November, 12-3 pm. 

Feeling tense? You can book in for a free 10 minute massage, provided here on campus. Check in at the Fitness Pod fto save a space! 

 

Free blood pressure testing

Monday 12–3 pm Ravensfield, Fenella and Colinhurst;
Tuesday 12 – 3 pm Town Hall, College buildilng, Willams building and New Model Farmhouse

If you'd like to get your blood pressure checked before embarking on a new exercise regime then drop by one of the campus locations listed above.

For a more in-depth health check, you can get your blood pressure and body composition measured for £5 (or free if you purchase a sports membership this week). Sessions will be available between 9am and 12pm all week; call The Fitness Pod on 020 8411 6343 to book your spot.

 

BIG Health Fayre

Thursday 21 November, the Quad

Come along to pick up lots of information, freebies and advice from organisations including British Heart Foundation, Bipolar UK, Diabetes UK and more. You can even get an Indian head massage courtesy of Middlesex's own Mental Health and Complimentary Therapy lecturers.
