Pakistan is known for its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, diverse cuisine, and ancient heritage, offering a wealth and value to our global community. The people of Pakistan who preserve all of this beauty are at incredible risk. For 4 months this year, the country has experienced a downpour of torrential rain which has devastated the land, with public health facilities, water systems, schools, homes and livelihoods being washed away by the floods.
More than 1500 people have died, which 33million suffering the loss of livestock crops, home and their livelihoods. Pakistan contributes a mere 0.9% of the global emissions but is one of the most vulnerable nations against the effect of floods, drought and heatwaves. The western world contributes 92% of global emissions highlighting the effects of climate change are most felt in southern countries who are least responsible for these problems.

This Thursday 25th October, your Students’ Union and Pakistani Society will be fundraising to help deliver safe drinking water, medical and food supplies, hygiene kits, and more to children and families.
All you need to do is show up and play some cricket! Put your team together and pay £20 to play on the pitches behind MDX House. Don’t want to play? No worries, you can come along to get some henna done, socialise, watch the game and make your donations at the event. See you there!
