600 guests celebrated the end of the year at MDXSU Summer Shutdown event on Wednesday 17th May.

Despite the rain, hundreds of students turned out to enjoy the end-of-exams celebration and mark the end of the academic year.

The festival-style event, organised by Middlesex University Students' Union, was headlined by Radio 1 and 1Xtra's MistaJam alongside MOBO award-winning MCNadia Rose.

The Summer Shutdown line-up also included MDXSU House Party DJ Yasser (1Xtra, Asian Network) and Middlesex students DJ Prez, Adam Romo and DJ Frapzkid and Frank.

MDX House and it's surroundings were transformed for the event - despite the rain affecting some of the outdoor activities and features.

Revellers could enjoy free, unlimited rides on the SkyDancer ferris wheel, and tune into a choice of channels in the silent disco igloo tent. Guests were also able to make the most of free photos and prints from the prop-filled photobooth, and glitter face-painting from MDX Raise & Give (RAG) - with proceeds going to charity. Alongside the two on-site bars, hot food was also available from Gupta's Bombay Street Food and Get Wurst.

Photos from the night will be available on the Middlesex Students' Union Facebook page.

This is the second year Middlesex Students' Union have organised a summer event, developing last May's Summer Fest event, headlined by WSTRN.
