Active Bystander Training

Launch yourself into opportunities for growth with Student Leaders Development Week! MDXSU invites you to take part whether you're already a leader who wants to develop your knowledge or if you're taking your first steps in improving your professional skills. The week's schedule includes interactive campaign sessions, workshops to improve your wellbeing and sessions on building up your business, relationships or community. Make the most of this online training to gain extra insight into what is happening in the wider community and how you can have an impact on those around you as part of #TeamMDX.

Racism, bullying, sexual harassment and other inappropriate behaviours contribute to a toxic culture. The impact they have on people can be hugely detrimental – leading to stress, anxiety and mental health problems. As we are seeing in the news, it can be deeply corrosive and damaging if these behaviours and attitudes are normalised over time. That’s why it’s essential for everyone to know how to speak up when problems arise.

This session will cover: overcoming fear and paralysis in challenging situations; using the right words and expressions when challenging behaviours; how to tackle ‘micro-inequities’, including eye-rolling, sighing, constant interruptions, and unconscious bias.

This session will be run by The Active Bystander Training Company.

Book your free ticket for this session. The joining details will be emailed to you at 1pm on the date of the session.
