From Fear to Fulfillment: Stories of Coming Out in Queer Britain

Queer people have impacted every part of culture, yet all too often their lives have been written in the margins of history books. Valuable stories are being lost. Once gone, they may never be recovered. These deserve a dedicated space to be preserved, explored and celebrated - this film screening is an opportunity to hear about some of these Queer Life Stories to reflect on the experiences of those in the LGBT+ community.

This compilation of video-based oral history interviews focuses on coming out stories, and includes the positives and negatives of being out as a sexual orientation or gender identity minority.

These interviews are part of the Queer Britain Museum's Virtually Queer collection of video-based oral histories. The video presented is by Molly Merryman, Ph.D., director of research for Queer Britain, and director of the Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality at Kent State University (USA).
