Do you have to travel in and live afar from campus? MDXSU Commuter Students Community can link you up to other students doing the same journey as you and help with the practical concerns that being a commuter can bring. We're aware that finances can become difficult to mnanage whilst commuting to and from University, so we've pulled together some tips for saving money below:
Tips on Saving Money
- Middlesex was one of the first universities to offer all new students a FREE NUS Extra Card, now known as TOTUM – saving you £12 and getting you access to tons of discounts!
- Get 30% off the price of adult-rate Travelcards and Bus Pass season tickets! If you're 18 or over, live at a London address during term time and are in full-time education, or on a mandatory work placement in London, you may be eligible for an 18+ Student Oyster photocard.
- If you’re travelling by train, you could also get additional discounts by investing in a 16-25 Railcard if you’re eligible – which can be added to the 18+ Student Oyster to additional discounts! Alternatively, you could invest in a 26-30 Railcard if you're not eligible for the 16-25 Railcard!
- Season tickets are also available from National Rail, which are usually more cost effective than purchasing single journeys
For more information you can also have a look at the university’s website for commuter students.
