This is an idea to suggest that Middlesex Univeristy should start providing self defence lessons on campus in order to help students of any gender prevent any kind of physical harassment.

This idea is more towards helping women know what to do if they find themselves in a situation where they are being sexually harassed. By providing self defence lessons, the chance of sexual harassment and any potential worse case senarios will be lessened.

Although the idea is pitched mainly for women, all genders should be allowed to take part in the self defence lessons since any gender can be put through harassment. Also, the lessons can be applicable to situations other than sexual harassment as well, such as physical violence.

The avaliablilty of martial art societies are there, but many people do not want to join just to learn how to protect themselves. By providing this service on campus, the students will be given more opportunities to learn how to protect themselves and in turn prevent more issues regarding violence and harassment on campus or outside the university.
