Faculty Committee Representatives

ELECTIONS FOR FACULTY REPRESENTATIVES ARE  NOW CLOSED UNTIL AUTUMN 2022

Faculty Committee Representatives represent their coursemates at the highest Faculty Committees, and have the power to make change on their course as well as at Middlesex more widely.

What is a Faculty Committee Representative?

Student voice and consultation is absolutely key for stronger University decision making. With expectations from sector bodies like Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and Office for Students (OfS), student voice is a valued part enabling and enacting change at Middlesex University.

Co-leadership is a key theme in MDXSU’s and the University’s new strategies, and in order to be able to truly co-lead the University with students, we need to ensure we have the right structures in place. This is why, for the first time ever we run the Faculty Committee Representative elections for the 2021-22 academic year, electing two representatives for each of the faculties at Middlesex to, alongside the Vice Presidents for their faculty, represent their fellow students at their faculty Learning & Teaching Committees.  The faculty Learning & Teaching Committee is responsible for the strategic activity, enhancing student learning opportunities and implementing and upholding the University’s learning, teaching and assessment standards.

In this role, you will become a key member of the Learning & Teaching Committee of the faculty in which you are currently studying, representing your fellow students, suggesting ideas and giving feedback about your experience. You will work with various senior University staff members within your faculty, including the faculty Dean and the Deputy Dean to find solutions so that you and other students can make the best of your time at Middlesex.

What is required in the role?

This is a part-time role only requiring about 6 hours (the Committee will only meet about 3-4 times per the academic year) of your time per term, with no prior experience necessary. MDXSU will provide all the training and support you need. As well as improving the experience of your fellow students in your faculty, you will also improve your employability, developing various key transferable skills whilst getting to know the people in your faculty, MDXSU and academic staff!
